Abstract

This paper considers the history of medical histology from the 17th century to the present. Between the aforementioned century and the end of the 19th century, it details its origin, its disciplinary evolution, the advancement of its diagnostic instruments and techniques, and prominent specialists. Likewise, it refers synthetically to its development and application in the 20th and early 21st centuries, highlights its long career in Medicine and points out its histopathological projection as well as its possible paradigmatic change. In short, it alludes to a past to be valued, a present to build and a future to decipher.
